What is a Secondary Tap Pedestal? A secondary tap pedestal houses connectors for secondary wires fed by the secondary side of a transformer. Nordic’s connectors have a conductor range of 750MCM down to 1/O wire. The ND-3624 pedestal can accommodate up to 3 or 4 connectors with either 8, 10, or 12 ports with it’s fiberglass mounting brackets.
What’s the benefit of a secondary tap pedestal? This system is the preferred method of terminating 600V conductors in residential and small commercial applications like apartment complexes and strip malls. Customers will be able to save money on installing fewer transformers, elbows, primary cable, and labor. The ND-3624 secondary tap pedestal is made of fiberglass and will not rust. It can either be pad-mounted to a concrete pad with a cabinet anchor system or direct buried down to 12” below grade.
