Box Pads for Oil-Filled Switchgear Installation:

1. Excavate the hole approximately 4” - 6” deeper than the suggested ground sleeve burial depth.

2. Compact the soil with a back-hoe or a hydraulic tamper.

3. Add approximately 4”- 6” of gravel to the bottom of the hole. 

4. Compact by machine and level the gravel.

5. Place the box pad on the leveled gravel bed.

6. Level the box pad.

7. Back-fill with loose earth material.

8. Do not back-fill with chunks of frozen material or large rocks next to the ground sleeve.

9. Pack the back-fill material by foot tamping.
