Hand Hole Installation

1. Excavate the hole approximately 4” - 6” deeper than the suggested hand hole burial depth.

2. Compact the soil with a back-hoe or a hydraulic tamper.

3. Add approximately 4”- 6” of gravel to the bottom of the hole. 

4. Compact by machine and level the gravel.

5. Place the hand hole on the leveled gravel bed.

6. Level the hand hole.

7. Back-fill with loose earth material up to the top surface of the hand hole.

8. Do not back-fill with chunks of frozen material or large rocks next to the ground sleeve.

9. Pack the back-fill material by foot tamping.
