Box Pads for Air-Filled Switchgear Installation:

1. Excavate the hole approximately 4” - 6” deeper than the suggested ground sleeve burial depth.

2. Compact the soil with a back-hoe or a hydraulic tamper.

3. Add approximately 4”- 6” of gravel to the bottom of the hole. 

4. Compact by machine and level the gravel.

5. Place the ground sleeve on the leveled gravel bed.

6. Level the ground sleeve.

7. Back-fill with loose earth material.

8. Do not back-fill with chunks of frozen material or large rocks next to the ground sleeve.

9. Pack the back-fill material by foot tamping.
